Editor’s note: This live Q&A was done Wednesday, before Gov. Phil Scott issued new directives on social gatherings on Friday.
“The key to the holidays is keeping it small and limiting travel where possible,” said Vermont Deputy Health Commissioner Tracy Dolan in a VTDigger live Q&A on Wednesday.
Readers submitted questions about how to navigate the holiday travel season at a time when Covid-19 infection rates are rising in Vermont and across the country: Is it safe to see family for Thanksgiving? What should incoming family members do on arrival? Is it safe to have Thanksgiving dinner with family members who work in a Vermont retail store? If family members test negative, can they visit at-risk relatives?
The answer to many of these questions, Dolan said, is, “It depends.” But everyone looking to celebrate with family should take the state’s quarantine guidelines for travelers seriously, and limit gatherings to 10 people or less, she said.
