Gov. Phil Scott named new leaders in three state offices Monday.
Kaj Samsom will take over as commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation. It will be a return to state government for Samsom, who served as tax commissioner from 2017 to 2019 and spent a total of 14 years in various roles at DFR. Most recently, Samsom has worked as National Life Group’s chief auditor.
The interim deputy secretary of the Agency of Education, Jill Briggs Campbell, will become the agency’s permanent deputy. Previously, Briggs Campbell worked as the agency’s director of operations, a role that required her to coordinate efforts to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rounding out the appointments, Neil Kamman will be deputy commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation after leading the department’s Water Investment Division. Before that, he was the department’s senior policy adviser.
The personnel changes will be effective immediately.
